AMF Panel:-
The AMF Panel is designed to meet the following requirements for Automatic operation of Diesel generator set on Mains Failure.
[1] While the mains supply is healthy the DG set is at rest and the load is supplied direct from the mains through the mains line contactor/Breaker
[2] When the mains voltage fails the automatic control system gives a starting signal to the DG set.
[3] Three attempts starting facility for the DG set is provided and in case the DG set fails to start and attain the operating voltage within 25 seconds, the D.G set stopped and Locks –out automatically. (Hooter goes on giving suitable signal to alert the operator).
[4] As soon as the DG set reaches its operating speed, the Alternator its operating voltage and correct oil pressure (A period of 5 to 30 seconds) the Alternator Contactor/ ACB closes and connects the load on DG set and thus restores supply to the load.
[5] When the mains supply has been restores to normal, it is monitored for one minute and then the load is automatically transferred to the mains supply and the DG set is brought to rest.
[6] The D.G set has then reverted to its stand by condition and will only start again when the main fails again.
[7] FAILS TO START (Three attempts starting):
If engine fails to start within 25 seconds after receiving engine start signal then FAILS TO START INDICATION LIGHT – Glows and Hooter is ON.
[8] LOP (Low Oil Pressure):
If oil pressure is not built (oil pressure switch –OPS not ON) within 5 seconds after Alternator operating voltage is built-up the LOP INDICATING LIGHT – GLOWS and Hooter is ON
[9] HIGH WATER TEMPERATURE (HWT):
If cooling water temperature exceeds the set limit then HWT Indication Light- Glows and Hooter is ON.
[10] The control circuits designed to operate on LED-Acid storage batteries of the DG set. These batteries are kept in charged condition by the built in battery charger which is connected to the load side so that it will either be energized from the mains supply of the D.G. set with provisions for boost and trickle charging.
[11] Two modes of operation of the DG set are available, namely MANUAL and AUTO. These modes are selected by the MANUAL-AUTO2 position mode selector switch SS1.
Starting and stopping of the SG set in MANUAL MODE is carried out by pressing the appropriate push buttons. In AUTO MODE, START and STOP of the D.G set is automatically carried out.
[12] The MANUAL OPERATION is performed when mains supply is unstable and during initial commissioning for checking engine functions.
